In Reply to: Sophia Clay Grush - connection to Henry Clay? by Francis Clay Kennedy of 4006

Thomas Hart was the father-in-law of Henry Clay. When he moved to Lexington, Kentucky around 1790 from Hagerstown, Maryland he brought with him three sisters named Grush or Grosch who were of German descent and were orphans. One of them married Thomas Hart, Jr., another married Henry Clay's brother, Porter Clay, and the third married John Wesley Hunt who was the wealthiest man in Lexington. The one who married Porter Clay was named Sophia. She and Porter supposedly had one daughter who married a Taylor. Sophia died in 1829. Bill LaBach in Lexington, KY.
