Patti and Norma,
John did have a brother named Richard who was married to Rachel. Richard died in 1776, in Berkley Co, Virginia. John was a yoeman witnessing the will. Richard had sons Thomas and Cataline.
I just realized that John Clawson who died in 1810 could not have been born in 1754, because he had a son John, named in his will who was born in 1755 and died in 1835. This has been my problem over the last several years, reconciling these dates. I have read and copied the wills and documents from the National Archives attesting to young John's service in the Revolution in a unit from NJ. He was wounded in Deleware and applied for a pension in 1835 from Kentucky where he had moved from Virginia after his father and brother died.
Sorry about the mixup. Ed Clawson
