Hi Bruce, I am convinced the Thomas of Allen county is the son of the Josiah, Sr. found in Hampshire county. This Josiah, Sr. is surely the son of Thomas and Anne of New Jersey who married Margaret Buckalew. He apparently moved with his brothers to the same area. Yes, Rachel is Thomas's sister. And, Josiah of Auglaise county is a brother. It would appear a Frederick and a John in the Hampshire tax lists are also brothers. There are probably more siblings (in particular females); perhaps we will find records for them in the Hampshire county area. There is no evidence at this time but Thomas's brother John just might be the John Clawson of Preble county, Ohio. The last I could find John in Hampshire county was in the 1810 census. Thomas married Hannah Rawlings. Richard's son Thomas married Elizabeth Wilson and migrated to Ross county, Ohio; see my previous post on this Thomas. Of course, documentation is needed. But, the namesakes, proximity of families and migration path leave me with very little doubt of the above relations. Rich Closson PS: Josiah of Auglaise county gave his birthplace as NJ in the 1850 census. As for Rachel Berryman; she is the second wife of Richard. The Rachel Clawson who married William Berryman is the daughter of Josiah Clawson, Sr. Notify Administrator about this message?
