I am seeking info on Ichabod Clawson. He is currently the only candidate to be my ancestor. I descend from Lydia Catherine Clawson Counts of Shelby County, Ohio. Lydia went by Lydia, Catherine, and in one census record she was spelled Lyddia.
She married Adam Counts in 1834 in Shelby County. There was a female in Ichabod's household of the proper age in the 1830 census living in that part of Shelby County. She was born in 1811 (consistent with all sources). No death certificate, obit not informative (1894).
In various census records, Lydia gave her birthplace as NY, VA and twice VT. She cited NY for her parents birthplace, Ichabod listed his as NJ. *sigh* I am not aware of siblings for Lydia that I can research..........
Ichabod's birthdate via the 1850 Lafayette, Owen, IN census would be 1781. He doesn't seem to fit anywhere in on-line databases or by googling him, using all the variant spellings of Clawson that I can think of.
Does anybody know anything about him? Or about Lydia for that matter? She was 23 when she married Adam, and he was 48 with several children from two previous marriages.
