On the 1870 Federal Census for Fountain County Indiana (Shawnee Township) there is a Garrett Clawson aged 83 years, listed as a retired farmer, born in Ohio...residing with him is a Margaret Clawson, age 50, also born in Ohio.
This is NOT Garrett married to Delilah Shroyer. That Garrett died in 1863 (Shawnee Twp., Fountain Cty, Indiana)
Which Garret is this???????? I have been trying to research backwards on census records for a Garrett (anywhere in the U.S.) born in 1787, but am having no luck finding one.
I looked at the 1880 census to see what Clawson's were residing in Shawnee Twp, Fountain County...thinking one of his sons inherited his farm.
I found Jacob born 1818, Josiah born 1820 & George born 1829...all sons of Garret and Delilah.
I found Andrew born 1831 New York and can't find his parents.
I found Allen born 1856 and Benjamin born 1851...sons of Josiah and Sarah A. Clawson.
Does anyone have any idea????????
