The Garret Clawson that was in the Revolutionary War is most probably my ancestor (gggggg grandfather) but having trouble connecting great #4 to #5.......actually it's between three sons of #6 #6 Garrett (Pennsylvania) #5 Peter, John or Thomas (Ohio) #4 Peter married Sarah Iford (Ohio, Indiana) #3 Lewis married Malinda Lynch (Indiana) #2 Harvey married Barbara Ashba (Indiana) #1 Leonard married Hanna Ridder (Indiana) grandfather (living) father (living) Myself (living) In my first post, I wanted someone to debate, agree, prove, disprove or whatever.....that Peter Garrabrant Clawson moved from upstate New York with his son Garret and Garret settled in Pennsylvania, married a woman named Mary and raised their children there.........#6 Garret died prior to his children marrying and leaving Pennsylvania....no one can confirm a year of his death. I...Me....think #6 Garret was born around 1730 in New Jersey and married Mary? from Wales around 1755.....The eldest child is John born 1756, then Peter born 1758, Garret born December 25, 1759, Mary born 1762, Thomas born August 12, 1768 and Josiah born May 14, 1775. The eldest child (John) seems the most likely father of #5 Peter but it hasn't been confirmed. I think #6 Garret could be the son of Thomas born 1709, that was the son of William born 1657. My Clawson line prior to #4 Peter is very hard to confirm because they were squatters in Ohio before it was truely opened up for settlement. They were Indian spies and soldiers, kept very much to themselves and seem to move from place to place with the same "other" families. Around 1830 #4 Peter settled in Carroll County, Indiana and Shanks and Garrisons appear at the same time....have been able to confirm the Shanks are decendents of Mary Clawson Shanks (married Joseph Shanks) born 1762, but haven't been able to confirm the Garrison connection (Peter born 1758 married Dolly Garrison) Of the children of William born 1657, do know anything about his son Thomas????????? Thank you for the friendly debate.....it is actually opening doors and shutting some.... Notify Administrator about this message?
