I am descended from Mahala CLAUNCH, daughter of
James CLAUNCH and Charlotte Bearden. This line of
CLANCH, CLANCE, and probably CLANCY!) is probably
related to all the variants that came into this
country during the 1700s. I have good reason to
think the line was originally Irish (and not
German or Dutch), deriving from Irish Clancys who
settled in the Spanish Netherlands to fight as
wild geese on the side of Spain. Perhaps you are descended from the Claunch-Bearden line, as some of these Claunchs settled in Johnston (Johnson?) Co. TX. If so, I have a great surprise for you.
