CHRISTIAN KIENTZ SR., died Monday at his home near Germanville, at an advanced age. He was an old and highly respected citizen of Walnut Township, having lived there since 1841. He was born in Germany in 1804 and was a member of the German Lutheran Church.

CHRISTIAN KIENTZ was born in Schertzheim, Baden, May 4, 1804; died at his home in Walnut Township, June 21, 1892. At the age of 21 he enlisted in the German army where he served five years. In 1830 he married CHRISTENA SPIELMAN, and came to the United States with his family in 1834. They settled near Columbus, Ohio where his wife died in 1839. In 1840 he was married to BARBARA MOLIS who with seven children survives him. In 1842 they moved to Iowa and for an even half century he had been a resident and prominent citizen of Jefferson County. The surviving children are Christian Jr., H. G., J. G., Mary A. Messer, Charlotte Klass, Catherine Rousher, and Lizzie. He also leaves 32 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at 2 o'clock Wednesday at the Lutheran church near Germanville and was largely attended. The services were conducted by Rev. Kneiriem.
