Hi,
This is what I know about my family. The family name, going back to the Huegenots, was LeClerq. As I understand it there are two Clarkson family trees, the Huegenot and another branch who may have been from England and Clarksons forever.
My immediate family came from Bridgeport, Conn. Charles Clarkson was my great grandfather. He was a shoemaker in Bridgport, with five children, who went off to serve with the Union Army in the Civil; War, was captured and spent time in the infamous Libby prison in Richmond, Virginia. It is my understanding that Libby was an officer's prison, for what ever help that might be.. Old Charlie came home after the war and sired five more offspring including my grandfater, Thomas Frankiin Clarkson, who I beieve was was born in Bridgeport in 1871.
His son, my father, Harry I Clarkson, was born in Bridgeport in 1896 and moved to Washington, D. C.in the early 1900s.
Would appreciate any information you might have that relates to my line of the family.
Happy to find you on the web. If you have any other web sites that relate to the Clarksons, I would like hear about them.
Thanks Cousins.

Harry Clarkson
