Samuel Floyd Clarkson is an old family name from the NY (Matthew Clarkson line) Clarksons. The Floyd comes from Kitty Floyd daughter of William Floyd, a NY signer of the Declaration of Independence.

This Samuel Floyd Clarkson was born in Passaic, NJ 11/6/1917, m. Vera Ellen Clark on 6/6/1939 daughter of Hoyt Simon Clark and Alta Grace Walker. Vera was born 11/4/1917 Burtrum, Minn.

His father was Rev. Samuel Floyd Clarkson b. 8/10/1889 Passaic, NJ m. Edith Manning Coleman 8/19/1916 daughter of Charles Edgar Coleman and Dora Manning. Edith was born 3/10/1889 in Jersey City, NJ. They had four children: Samuel Floyd, Robert Russell, Ruth Edith and Esther Miriam.

His father was Samuel Floyd Clarkson b. 11/3/1860 in NYC m. Elizabeth Dinsmore Davidson 11/18/1885 daughter of James Davidson and Mattie C. Martin. Elizabeth was born 3/30/1862 in Perth Amboy, NJ. They had five children: Anne Louise, Margaret McGee, Samuel Floyd, Varick Martin, Elva Elizabeth, Elsie Davidson and James Davidson.

His father was Rutgers Clarkson b. 12/8/1832 NYC
