I have a James Emerson Clarke, b ? possibly in Manitoa Island, Ontario, Canda, and died 1912.
In 1880, James Emerson Clarke, a government surveyor, came out from Wroxeter, Ontario, and with a group of relatives and friends, settled in the area between what is now Kinistino and Weldon. ...They travelled by steamer to Duluth and by train, by way of St. Paul, to Winnipeg. There they purchased what they would need as settlers and travelled by Red River cart, a long hard journey.....
Mary Jane[Sanderson] was James' second wife, his first having died with her child during childbirth.....
James [Emerson] Clarke died suddenly of a heart attack 12/28/1912.
