I have finally proven that my great great great grandmother, Polly Clark(e), is the daughter of William Clark(e) of Barren County, KY. William gave permission for his daughter Polly to marry William Hendricks, son of Daniel H Hendricks. There was a John Clarke(e) that was a surety on the marriage bond. The marriage bond is dated January 23, 1817.
William and Polly Clark(e) Hendricks had two children born in Kentudky, Hezekiah H (about 1818) and William Henry (Oct 15, 1819).
William and Polly Clark(e) Hendricks moved from Kentucky before October, 1822 based upon a suit against the heirs of Daniel H Hendricks which showed William Hendricks as no longer living within the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
William and Polly Clark(e) Hendricks had their third son, James Daniel, in Mississippi (1824), probably in Marion County, Mississippi.
William and Polly Clark(e) Hendricks moved from Mississippi in 1859 to Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana where William died in April, 1860. Mary died before December 24, 1861 when her will was probated.
I have looked at the early census records for Barren County, KY and cannot determine whether one of the William Clarks listed is my William Clark or whether one of the John Clarks is the John that was surety on the marriage bond. I do not know whether my William Clark(e) is the one famous for the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
At this point, this is all the information I have regarding Polly Clark and her father William. If I can make a connection with someone's Clark line, I' have over 1100 descendants and/or spouses to add to that someone's genealogy and I'm totally willing to share.
Thank you in advance for any assistance with this.
