According to pg. 110 of the Baldwin Vignettes, put out in 1984 by Gulf Communications in S. Alabama, a Charles Clark and Minnie Prestion were the parents of 4 children, Merril (Mary), Mae, Warren and Earl. The family moved from Montana to Alabama about the turn of the 20th century, and settled in Bon Secour, Alabama. Also according to pg. 110, Mae Clarke became the famous Mae West, sultry actress of the first half of the 20th century. Minnie died in 1948 and is buried in Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley, Alabama, and Charles married a 2nd time, though I don't have the name of his 2nd wife. Charles died in 1955 and is buried next to his wife, Minnie. But according to Mae West's biography, (which the Vignettes claims she fabricated) Mae West was one of 3 children born to a boxer name Jack West, and his wife, Matilda Doelger West, but I have been unable to locate any concrete information on this, either. Mae West died in 1980, and is said to have been buried in Brooklyn NY. Can anyone add to subtract from what is said here?
