Hi Bill,
Some of my GIBSON's, who were from Sumter Dist. SC starting in 1740's, moved through GA to settle in Pike Co., AL in 1830.My Gibson grandfather married my grandmother who was a CLARK from Barbour Co., AL.She was the granddaughter of James R.(Ross) Clark, b: 28 Oct 1810, who is thought to be born in SC, & Darcus Ann Crocker.
Looks like this was James' sencond marriage to Darcus as he was 43 at the time. Some of their sons were: Benjamin Cary, Wilson Franklin, Daniel WEBSTER, Charley Anderson, James Hastin and Edd. "Cary" is the only name that I see which comes from the Crocker family.
I do not know what Clark/Clarke family James R. Clark came from.I wonder if there is a connection to Gibson & Elijah Clark.I have been researching my GOLDEN family who were from Wilkes & Lincoln Co., GA around 1780's to 1833.I have seen mention of Capt. Elijah Clarke in that area and also a Gibson family. My Golden's moved to Talbot Co., GA by 1840, and Tallapoosa Co., AL by 1840.They married into the WEBSTER family. Some of the Wilkes County Golden's moved down to lower AL around Henry and Pike.
