my john clark is the son of cornelius clark that was born in scotland in 1763 and came to america anout the time of the revolution. he lived with robert clark in north carolina that i feel was most likely his uncle. i have a cousin that has begun saying that he was the son of robert, even though a grandson stated that cornelius came over as a youngster. cornelius traveled with what appears to be robert clark jr, even though junior has never been found in records of him. they married sisters and moved to georgia before getting approval to move into indian territory around 1810. they settled in what is now madison county, ala. robert, his wife and cornelius are buried in clark cemetery there. cornelius' widow moved to hardeman county, tenn between 1832 and 1835. i am not sure about what happened to the children of robert, even though i have met one of his descendants. i keep trying to get family info from this kim clark. he works about 5 miles from where i lives and now lives about 2 miles from where i grew up.
i will tell you that most if not all other clark researchers list my john clark as john cornelius clark, but i have found no record that gives a middle name. since one of his sons is john cornelius clark amd has never been shown as a junior, i do not use cornelius as the middle name in order to help keep them seperate. i also do not show an "e" at the end of the name. i have only seen one record that used the name clarke, and it was a birth record of john cornelius clark's grandson born in 1910. i take this to be an error by the doctor not the family. all of the other info i have seen on the family never used the e.
