Thanks for your reply and the look up.

According to everything I have seen from the Garton family, Edna's maiden name was Campbell. And just as you, I have yet to find them on the 1870 or 1900 census.

James and Edna's 2nd daughter was named Susan Campbell Clark. However, this is no guarantee that this was Edna's maiden name. It could just as easily been Susan's paternal or maternal grandmother's maiden name.

However, all I have seen in the Garton family Bibles is that Edna's maiden name was Campbell. I have been trying to locate marriages in Hickman County, TN for this period to help put this issue to bed.

I'll keep digging for now. Again, thank you for your assistance.
