Eleanor B. "Sully" Lee Clarey, 88, of Modesto died Jan. 27 at Hy-Lond Convalescent Hospital.
Mrs. Clarey was a native of Attleboro, Mass. She lived in Modesto 20 years and previously lived in Monterey 12 years. She was a registered nurse. She retired as a major in the Army, after serving from 1942-45 and 1951-67, and served in Germany, Korea and stateside. She enjoyed dogs, canning and baking pies.
She is survived by her companion, Author Morris of Modesto; caregiver, Nancy Stouffer of Modesto; stepchildren, ***Bruce Clarey of Sherwood, Ore.***, and Judith Velasquez of Grants Pass, Ore.; and 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Van Sant; second husband, Clifford E. Clarey; and stepchildren, ***Daniel Clarey and Richard Clarey***.
Services have been held. Mission Mortuary, Monterey, in charge of arrangements.
Remembrances may be made to Community Hospice, 601 McHenry Ave., Modesto 95352.
