In the 1850 New York Census for Herkimer County, I found my great great grandfather, Winfield Scott Foreman, b 1814 in NY, who was married to Nancy Clapsaddle, b 1819 in NY. He was a boatman on the Erie Canal. They had four children, Charles, b 1839 in Frankfort, Herkimer Co.; Mary J., b 1844; William, b 1845; Margaret, b 1848. Charles was my great grandfather, and he moved to DeKalb Co IL. He married Hannah Elizabeth Thompson. Their son, Louis William Foreman was my grandfather. He spent his last years in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Can you supply information on Kelburn Clapsaddle's ancestors, especially Jacobus and Sarah E. Terpening Clapsaddle? Family stories tell of Nancy Clapsaddle being Native American???
