The LoC book contains some information about the English Clapps, coat of arms etc back to the 1400s. My great great grandfather was Oliver Clapp, b.1833 at Holden, Massachusetts. He married Mary, nee Boardman. My great grandfather was Francis Boardman Clapp. He arrived in Victoria, Australia, in 1853. My grandfather was Harold Winthrop Clapp (1875-1952), b. in Melbourne Vic. and my father was Robert Boardman Clapp. Sorry, out of space.
