I am also reseaching the Clapp family that included Aaron, Adolphus and Nathan who came to NY in 1806. I'm guessing that Adolphus and Nathan were sons on Aaron. Do you have any feeling on this assumption?

I'm looking for Martha Clapp's parents. She was born in 1812 in Bennington, NY. I have one relative who things her father was Adolphus and another source who thinks it was Aaron.

Someone did a lookup in the "Clapp Family in America" for me. It states the same information that you found, but goes no further either.
