Researching family of Adam Clapp. He was b. 10 December in Orange (later Guilford) Co., NC. He served in the Rev. War in NC and married (1st) Emma Marley. He moved to Sumner/Robertson Co., TN after 1785, where he married Ruth Lawrence before 1800. The Clapps and Lawrences moved to Union/Alexander Co., Illinois ca 1807, where Adam Clapp died in 1841. He was the son of John Philip Clapp and the grandson of George Valentine Clapp. His children included:
1. John Ike Clapp (c1783/ NC-- after 1860/KY; m. Sarah Loy)
2. Adam Clapp, Jr. (1785/NC-1865/IL; m. Elizabeth Murray)
3. David Clapp (1789/TN-1866/TX, m. Elizabeth Lawrence)
4. Mary (Polly) Clapp (1790/TN-1831, m. David or John Cotner)
5. Catherine Clapp (1798/TN-1833/MO, m. Francis Parker)
6. William Clapp (b. 1795 or 1801/TN, d. 1866/IL, m. Pheobe Worthington, Lucinda Clap and Nancy Lawrence Johnson) (6)
7. Elisha Clapp (b. 1803/TN-c1851/TX, m. Elizabeth Robbins)
8. Joel Clapp (c 1800/TN)
9. Abel Clapp (b. c 1804-1810, d. 1838/IL, m. Lucinda Lawrence)
10. Nancy Clapp (b. 1806/TN, m. Wilson Corzine and John S. Lawrence)
