Hi Patti

I have a Cornbury Clapp born about 1694 and died by 1727 as the son of John Clapp of SC and Rye & his wife Dorothy Raye.

I also have listed another Cornbury Clapp 1763-1823 as the son of Gilbert Clapp & Hannah Baker. (John Clapp from SC and Rye would be Gilbert's grandfather). Cornbury is listed as being born 1763 North East Twsp, Dutchess Co., NY. 2 spouses listed...Catherine Bishop & Mary Ann Haight (10 children between the 2 wives) but no Tamar. I noticed in the CM that some of the childrens names of the families are unknown so right now we dont know Tamar's father's name.

I have a William Merrit married to a Mary Clapp in 1792 but he died by 1796 and a copy of a will for one William C. Merritt dated 1806 that lists children as Cornby, Gilbert, Samuel, Ebenezer, and Jesse, Mary and Elizabeth but does not mention the wife's name. So obviously they are not the same William Merritt.

Hope some of this helps, any thoughts?
Jude
