I have a Elish Clapp in my notes as follows:

Elisha Clapp, son of Col. Ebenezer and 2d wife Mary (Glover) Clapp, b. Oct. 22, 1796; d. in Cahawba, Alabama Aug. 8, 1823, aged 27 years. It is believed he was in business awhile in Baltimore before removing south (where Old Cahawba records show that he was a merchant there for at least 3 years before his death at a young age).

If you think this could be the one you're looking for, let me know and I'll look for whatever else I have about him. If this IS the right Elisha, I would love to have additional info about him also to fill the spaces in his life.
