Jim Lillie
Jeannette Standish (Clapp) Lillie, My Great Grandmother, born 23 Sep 1826 in Royalton Windsor Co. Vermont.
Her godfather was Joseph Smith of Royalton, Windsor Co. Vermont. the Originator of the Mormon religion. I obtained this information from the LDS site.
Jeannette married my Great Grandfather Roswell Devirus Lillie in Northfield, Summit Co. Ohio, 10 Nov 1849 where his Mother Electa Damon. Wife of Zebina Lillie and his Grandmother Hannah Young Lillie. Wife of Benjamin Lillie, settled in 1833.
Jeannette and R D(Roswell Devirus) Lillie is in the 1850 Indiana Census, Noble Co Allen twp. And again in 1860 in Iowa, Guthrie Co. With there three children Eugene, Eva, and Eri.
I have a letter of Eri’s that states his father Roswell with Jeannette and the children went to Vermont in the early 1860’s, because Jeannette was very ill and wanted to be with her family when she passed over. Roswell remarried in 1865 to Francis (Fanny) Wristley Prescott Widow of Amos Matson Prescott of Waterbury, Washington Co. Vermont.
I have searched all that I know how to search and mailed letter’s Etc.and have been unable to connect Jeannette with the Clapp family. LDS site showes Her father Thomas Clapp and mother as Betsey Young.
