Clampitts in Iowa- help!

My maiden name is Clampitt. My parents are Louis Clampitt and Phyllis Pauline (Brown)Clampitt. I'm having a very hard time finding out information on my father's side as he was pretty much isolated from relatives other than his siblings. His parents were Steven Edward Clampitt and Lilly Pearl (Adams)Clampitt. He says his grandparents were Thomas Clampitt and Sara (Banks)Clampitt. His father had a brother named Frank who served in the military and is buried in Iowa. He was born in Iowa around the Mount Vernon area. The 1914 rural taxpayers have Clompets listed but nothing further. Unfortunately I do not have reliable living sources to acquire any information from and all personal records were destroyed. Any help would be appreciated as I do not even have accurate dates to begin searching.
