Came up w/ a blank on Jesse Clampitt on 1880 census; if her had been born, and if the census taker was in his county, he should have been listed on this index since the index includes everyone - even children. It's a fantastic tool for research.
Interesting about the Kit Carson connection. That makes me more related to your son. My Felands were distant cousins of Kit Carson also. I have not figured out exact relationship, but my 4 gr grandmother was Elizabeth Carson. I can't find her parents so thus ends my thread for now.
