C. Clampitt Succumbs
Charlie O. Clampitt, Scottsburg, died at 2:oo yesterday morning at the Scottsburg Hospital. Clampitt, a former Lawrence County resident, had been in ill health with a heart ailment for several years.
He was born Dec. 15, 1901, in Lawrence County, Indiana to William and Pheobe E. Speer Clampitt. He married Blanche Umphress Dec. 11, 1922. She survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Donald Clampitt, Salem; James Clampitt, Jonestown, Ind; Charles Clampitt, Jr., Scottsburg; and Clinton Clampitt, Newfoundland, and three daughters, Mrs. Alice Vernon, Michigan City, Ind., Mrs. Ellen Gillogly, Miner, Ill.; and Mrs. Evelyn Brown, Scottsburg. Fifteen grandchildren also survive, along with a sister, Carrie A. Kern, R.R. 6, Bedford, and several other relatives in the Bedford area. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at the Vest Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Mr. Clampitt was a member of the Scottsburg Christian Church.
