George Clair - French foreign exchange student

I would like to ask if anyone can point me toward any information about George St. Clair, foreign exchange student from France. The only info I have is the following brief tidbit from a family history:

GEORGE ST. CLAIR - University of Lyons (France) foreign exchange student who arrived in New York in 1880s or 1890s. He dropped St. from his name after coming to America. He traveled to Minnesota, and met his wife Julia Rassett in a French community there. Her parents had come from France earlier. After their marrage, George and Julia Clair moved to Paterson, New Jersey so that he could start a real estate and insurance business.

Any help would be appreciated.
