In the January 11, 2007 issue of USA TODAY,page 6A, it says "Maryland: Stevensville-Waterfront farmland once owned by the man who established Kent Island's first English settlement is on the market. The 107 acre Crayford farm worth $4.4 million, was owned by William Claiborne, who founded a settlement in 1631. The most recent owner was the late Elbert Carvel, a former state governor."
