Richard Claiborne b:1755 Became a Major in the Rev War an an aide to General Green. He went to New Orleans after the war . Twice married--To a Miss Tudor (alias Cole) , and to dau of General James Ross.

Richard was a son of William Claiborne, the son of Capt Thomas Claiborne B; 1680 d:1732, and Anne Fox(e), the son of Lt Col Thomas Claiborne b:1647 d: 1683 and Sarah Fenn.

Yes he is a distant relative of William charles Cole Claiborne, Gov of Louisanna.
