My wife is a descendant of Richard Claiborne thru his first wife and English women, Anne Cole. They had three children; James Hayward Claiborne, Richard Baring Claiborne and Susan Claiborne. Letter indicate that he was a cousin to Gen.Ferdinand Leigh and his brother Gov. WCC Claiborne, However Gov. WCC Claiborne also indicated that he didnot know of a relationship between him and Richard. We do not know who Richard's parent are, but a DNA study conducted for the Claiborne Family Group has concluded that he is a descendant of William Claiborne of the Virginia Coloney.
