I have the information about Claflin, KS. First of all, my son, Mike Claflin married a lady from Claflin. As for the information, I will copy information from a newspaper but the name was from the wife's maiden name of a surveyor who was working for the railroad. There is also a "Claflin Road" here in Manhattan, KS which is from Lee Claflin who donated money to Bluemont College, the predecessor of Kansas State University.

I am also a native of Wakita, OK. My Greatgrandfather, Giles Claflin (McClaflin) homesteaded a place in 1893. My grandfather, Jeptha, built the house used in the opening scene of "Twister". My father's name was Avery and he passed away in 1976.
Are you a relative of Elmer McClaflin from Medford? Would enjoy hearing from you. Larry
