I can not truthful answer you question. I have been researching the Claybourne line for about two and half years. I have been able to get back as far as my greatgrandfather William Clinton Claybourne. Due to the verious spellings it is very hard to link these names together. There is twenty some different spellings. The Name originated at Cleburn Hall, Westmoreland England. I can find information back to the year 800. Harvey De Cleburn, susposely the founder of Cleburn Hall. There is also a branch from Ireland. my research indicates that they went to England during the potato famine in Ireland. Most noted is Patrick Cleburn of Ireland, who came to america prior
to the civil war. He was a great Confederate States General. To get back to your question. Col William Claybourne ( Claiborne) came to America in 1632 or about that, I would have to search my records. He had a daughter named Mary. She married a man with the last name of Rice. She very well could be the person you are looking for.If you are interested in anything else, please send me your e-mail address. I have tons of history stored in my computer. I hope one day to put it all together.
