Hi Glynda,

I know this a few years later, but I think I just figured out that your John Claybaugh must be the brother of my William S. Claybaugh.

I sent for William's Civil War Pension File. In it is an affidavit of John Claybaugh. It was written in 1907, in it he says that he John is 79 years old and that William is 75 years old. He says that he has know William all his life. John is living in Matoon, IL at the time which is close to Cumberland County.

I have John on the 1870 and 1880 census in Cumberland County. I also believe I have the same John on the 1860 census.
