He was from Salem Couty, NJ; in 1850, he was in Lower Penns Neck Twp.I went to the Salem County Records office and had copies made of the pension data.He did survive the war, and lived on until 1883.I located his tombstone in Salem and there is another smaller stone nearby which is inscribed with T.W. Stanley, Co. E, 5th N.J. INF.
Other than a list of the battles which the 5th was in, I have no other information about them.
And, other than T.W. Stanley's parents's and children's names (and dates), I do know anything about him except what I have found in Census records (both NJ and Federal).
Do you know of any sources for information about the 5th and any way that I might find details about his involvement with them?
Thanks for the reply.Where was your gggrandfather from?
