The First CT Vol. Reg was brigaded with the second and third CT, and the second Maine under command of Col. Erasmus D. Keyes before Manassas.Under the command of General McDowell they were designated 1st Brigade, 1st. Division had the advance. The First Regiment covering the left of the head of column as skirmishers and the second covering the right.From the Record of Service of Connecticut Men in the War of the Rebellion - Adjutant Generals Office, Pub. 1898.
