My gr-grandfather was in the 1st Maine Cav.I have some more info on this if you want and will email it or post it here.

Proof No. 200098 Maine 9-1-03 B.M.
This certifies that Pvt. James E. Stilphen enlisted from Sagadohoc County;Maine on the 14th day of October,1861 to serve three years or during the war and was mustered into the United States service at Augusta, Maine on the 1st day of November, 1861 as a private of Captain George Princes Company "K" 1st Regiment Maine Volunteer Calvary, Colonel John Goddard Commanding.
At Cedar Mountain the said James E. Stilphen had horse shot from under him, causing three months confinement in hospital at Davids Island, N.Y.
He was at all other times with his command rendering faithful and Meritarious services, achieving a gallant record for brave and Soldierly bearing.
He was Honorably Discharged at New York City, on the 15th day of December, 1862 by reasons of Disability.
