It seems that genforum is no longer informing persons when a new message has been sent to them. I actually saw your post only when I opened up this site to post a new message of my own.
Thanks for the info you shared which I have never seen. It certainly clears up a lot of questions.
I have info that some of the soldiers who fought in Louisiana simply went home - period. However, maybe some reported near their home to the "nearest parole center" and others didn't. Anyway, since the South lost the war, one can only wonder if some of the South's after-war writers omitted a few things here and there in their writings.
Now I wonder where those parole center records are housed in each area. Having dealt with a number of the court houses in different places in Texas, I can be sure it would be a major undertaking to find those records in order to see if all individuals from any particular area reported to their parole center.
Again, thank you for sharing the information. Every bit fills in more of what happened during that period in time.
