16th INFANTRY BAND Organized in CHICAGO
Posted by: Kathryn Henton (ID *****6853) Date: March 28, 2013 at 08:20:12

I'm searching for photos and history for the 16th Infantry Band which was organized in Chicago, Oct. 1862, and mustered out in Sacket Harbor in 1865. The band apparently followed the Army of the Cumberland (Spring 1883, Murfreesboro, Tenn.) Commanding Officer was Col. Pennybacker (retired as a general). John C. White (my great grandfather) was a drummer boy in the band. I'm at a dead end with my research. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
