My GGF Rodgers/Rogers referenced above enrolled for CS 18 Mar 1862 in Lauderdale County, Alabama. He was captured at Gettysburg on 2 Jul 1863. He was confined at Fort McHenry on 4 Jul 1863, and transferred to Fort Delaware on 6 JUl 1863.
On 18 Sep 1863 at Ft. Delaware, he was transferred to Baltimore, MD on 22 Sep 1863 and mustered into the 3rd Maryland Cavalry.
His name was recorded as William F Rodgers in the Declaration of Recruit document at Ft. Delaware and in the Volunteer Enlistment record. Where are these documents?
The 3rd Maryland was transferred to New Orleans in March 1864. William deserted on 25 Mar 1864 at New Orleans. He was arrested and confined. Where are these records? Eventually, he was sent to the DRY TORUGAS and sentenced to hard labor.
Where are the Court Martial records?
He eventually returned to duty with the Co. G Muster roll showing him "Returned from Tortugas to duty."where are these records?
Where are Provost Martial records for Woodville, Wilkinson Co Mississippi? I show him on duty with Capt Cadle,, Provost Marshall.
So many incidences, and there has got to be some records. I have requested his records from NARA, 4 weeks ago, and have heard nothing of him yet!
I do know that this person is my GGF, because 1n 1866, he married my GGM, in Woodville, Wilkinson Co Mississippi.
