Captain West's Independent Company, Lawrence County, Arkansas

I'm seeking information on Captain West's Independent Company. My relation, John Madison Hardin from Lawrence County, AR was "in service" 27 Feb 1863 with this company for most, but not sure if all, of the war. This would be a Confederate company. My research leads me to believe John died in, or shortly after, the end of the war. By 1870 he and his wife (Mary (Crabtree) Hardin) are gone and their children have been dispersed among family members. The youngest son Benjamin applied for pension $ but I haven't searched in depth for the results of the Pension request. If anyone has information or guidance, please let me know.
