Bobbi,

I've been following your posts and will attempt to offer an additional contact. Since the e-mails to the SCV were returned, you might want to contact the UDC (United Daughters of the Confederacy). Here is the website for all the chapters in Texas with contact info, too: http://www.txudc.org/chapters.html

I did notice that there is a chapter in Palestine, so they may be the closest ones to help.

Also, being a member of the UDC myself (in Virginia, not Texas) I have recently been informed that the Veterans Administration is kind of cutting back on who they provide free headstones to. From what I have learned, Confederate headstones may no longer be granted if the person making the request is not the 'next of kin'. I don't remember all the details, so please look into this matter for yourself. I am just trying to give you a heads up, in case you are not able to get a marker placed.

Good luck,

Debbie Page
