I am looking for information relating to the life and death of William A. Curtis, supposedly born in Australia, enlisted at age 18 at Utica, New York on September 19, 1861 into New York 57 Infantry during the American Civil War. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal on September 1, 1862 and then to Sergeant on May 1, 1864; mustering out on September 23, 1864. Listed in N.Y. Report of Adjutant General. Any assistance relating to birth, life, family death and burial will be appreciated.
