My 4th great grandfather is Joseph J Belanger born about 1826 in Canada. He lived in Oswego,NY since at least 1870, I don't know when he moved there. I have found 3 records of Joseph Belanger's in the civil war that were born about the time he was. How do I know if this is my ancestor or someone else?
