Source: Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Virginia (NARA)
William P. Cornell enlisted as a Private in Captain John D. Neal's Company* on May 2, 1863 at Wood County, Virginia. His enlistment was for 3 years or war. He owned his own horse. On Sept/Oct 1864 roll it notes he is absent from company in hospital since August 25, 1864 due to being wounded. No further record this source.

* The Company later became Company "G" 20th Virginia cavalry
