I am looking for information on on both the 6th and 45th North Carolina Infantries. My G.G.Grandfather was Levi Mathews(1818-1901)Find A Grave # 43181545. He lived in Twiggs County,Georgia , yet went to Burke County,North Carolina and enlisted in the 6th N.C.Infantry, Comany A( if you can help explain this I would be greatful). He was wounded at Mt.Jackson,Virginia and then transfered to the 45th N.C. Infantry, Company I.These two units sem to share the same history. Note: in one unit Levi is listed as Mathis and in the other Matthews with two Ts. Thank you for your help.
