PA Civil War Draft Exemption Question
My Ancestor was marked "Exempt, One of Two sons Elected" in the Clearfield County, PA Civil War Draft in Aug 1863 and I'm trying to understand what this means.
Does it mean that if you had two sons of draft age and one has already served (or is serving) then the other son is exempt?
I'll also mention that the mother was a widow but I'm not sure it matters in this context.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tim
