Daniel R. May volunteered and was enrolled and enlisted on February 28, 1862 at Graham NC. He was mustered in as a Private into Company "K" (Alamance Minute Men) 47th N.C. Infamtry on April 30,1862* at Camp Mangum, NC for 3 years service.He had been put on detached duty as a Wagoneer (teamster). He was killed on May 5, 1864 at battle of Wilderness.
* another page says mustered on March 17, 1862.
