Wounded on June 24 1864 at Petersburg, VA
Discharged because of wounds on November 12 1864
He appears on 1890 Veterans Census Schedules Sandwich,Barnstable,Massachusetts
refers to his service in Company "I" 40th Massachusetts Infantry.States service was from August 29,1862 to December 12,1864. States he lost left arm and was pensioned.
A search of the pension index shows that John M. Perry received an invalid's pension January 6,(appears to say 1865) Application # 58,177 and Certificate # 83,155 or 85,155 (difficult to read)
