Thanks for the information. One of the George's listed is a possibility, but I think it is a longshot. It is is VT where he was born and enlisted in the Army, but my george left New England in the 1870's.
My real question is how veterans actually received their payments, and if there are any records available to show where they picked up the money.
My George's pensions records show his address was Delphos, KS and he was removed from the rolls by the pension administrator in Topeka, KS in October 1902.From this I conclude that he was living in KS at the time of his death.
